The growing scale of network brings new challenges to the management ofnetwork system, and the gateway is considered as a hub for various networkinformation currency. Managing gateways efficiently, dynamically and safely ispropitious to dealing with the complex network environment. Meanwhile, the uniquerole of gateway makes itself become the focus of network attack, like illegalencroachment, theft of personal privacy and so on. So dynamic and safe configurationand management of security gateway has its significance for the development ofnetwork. In response to these problems, this paper designs a mechanism of dynamicconfiguration and management of hot-swap enabled security gateway, combining withthe actual application environment and extending the traditional concept hot-swap. Thepaper design and achieve this mechanism from the auto-configuration of gateway, discovery mechanism of hot-swap of the service boards of security gateway, authentication of gateway and communication protocol of the system. Theauto-configuration function of gateway can configure gateways automatically, and thisfunction can streamline workflow of configuration. The discovery mechanism ofhot-swap can make sure that management system understand the running state ofinterrelated service boards in real time. The identity authentication function ofciphergraph can distinguish whether the gateway is believable and make sure that theprocess of configuration and management of security gateway is safe. Thestandardization of communication protocol provides bearing for the data exchange ofconfiguration and management. So the design of this mechanism has the guidancefunction for managing network devices efficiently.
