With rapid development in LCD field, TFT-LCD has become most populartechnology and R&D hot point because of its excellent color saturation, color restoreability and contrast. TFT-LCD’s market share increases very fast in some display fields.However, there are some main shortcoming in TFT-LCD manufacturing, such ascomplex process technology and low yield rate, especially, in scribing and splittingprocess.This paper conducts a detail research on scribing and splitting process duringTFT-LCD manufacturing. Based on LCD glass scribing process, the key technology ofcontrol system is deeply compared and analyzed. Finally, the most suitable solution isselected and the detail introduction is given out. Based on IPC development platformand Visua1Basic6.0development program language, it improves program readability,reliability and maintainability. Seven-axis motion-together is realized in glass scribingmachine. Machine vision automatic alignment system is adopted, which improvesscribing precision remarkably.This paper demonstrates automatic alignment system based on machine vision.According to requirements of actual engineering, proper hardware is selected andreasonable machine vision system is built; moreover, practical system organization andwork flow are presented. Based on leading development platform, combining LCDglass scribing control system, the second development is conducted on image-pickingcard and align arithmetic is designed. To verify performance and effect, the system istested. The test result proves that the goal is achieved. Through the vision system’sdevelopment and application, LCD glass automatic alignment is realized, whichestablishes a foundation for high-precision scribing system.Through research in this paper, the China’s first LCD G4.5scribing machine isdeveloped, which fills vacant area of China’s middle-big size glass scribing machineand will improve China’s LCD industry development.In the end of this paper, summary whole paper and point out direction for furtherdevelopment.
