The track regularity has an influence on the running safety and passenger comfort, and will play an increasingly important role in railway speed-increasing. Aiming at the shortcomings of the complex in operation and high bit error rate, our research group develops a novel track inspection device. This thesis is responsible for the laser automatic alignment sub-system. A new scheme using machine vision technique is presented, which implement the automatic alignment by recognizing the images from the image acquisition port.This thesis focuses on the technology of laser automatic alignment in railway track detection system. Image acquisition and processing sub-system is designed and implanted. Firstly, the detail design process of image acquisition is given. Then the correlated image processing algorithm is examined, an edge detection and target location algorithm is chosen and modified. Finally, this sub-system based on ARM platform is realized and the user operation interface is provided. This laser automatic alignment sub-system can improve its working efficiency and measurement accuracy. It also has a universality, and can be applied to the similar condition after a slightly modification.
