The auto market has become somewhat more competitive, auto companies hope toboost sales by low-price and effective service. But ordinary vehicle dealer often does nothave enough sales consultants to receive all customers who come in the showroom, andthey also can not offer24-hour service. Customers can not learn more about the car asthey please. Thus the dealer will miss the best opportunity of sales. Today, in this case,auto companies develop Vehicle Showroom Auto Introduction system(VSAI) to solve theabove problem. The robot, by simple interaction with customers, automatically introducethe cars to the customer.Firstly, this thesis briefly introduces the basic concepts of VSAI, the current researchand the meaning of the research and application in the automotive industry. And thethesis gives an overview of the hardware architecture based on the Mindstormsprogrammable robot system, the principles of the interaction between human and robot,the application method of robot control, and introduces several developed platforms ofMindstorms.Secondly, this thesis briefly introduces the background of an auto company’s VSAIsystem, the thesis analyses the detail of all requirement of the VSAI system and model thesystem with UML technology based on object-oriented Methodology. Thirdly, this thesisbriefly introduces the complete VSAI system’s architecture design and the system’s flowdesign according to the analysis of the VSAI system’s used case. And then it designs theclasses and subsystem of the VSAI system on the basis of above designs. Fourthly, thisthesis briefly introduces the example of the system, using the sensors as the input fromthe human in concert with the floor signage, and transmitting between the sensors andhost, making the interaction accurate between human and robot. The system separatesfrom traditional interaction between computer keyboard and human, and gives specialservice to the human by using the infrared sensor and auto movement.Finally, the thesis gives the comparison between VSAI system, tradition human’sintroduction and simple vehicle showroom without introduction. The result shows thatVSAI system has better customer satisfaction than the simple showroom, and VSAI systemhas the advantage that working all day without rest in contrast with human. And we thinkthat the system will lower the cost and more effective than the tradition vehicle sales.Finally, it comes to the conclusion on the contents of the thesis, and discusses futureresearch.
