With the decreasing number of students who take the college entranceexamination, the colleges and universities are facing a serious problem of enrollment.Employment rate, orientation and salary become very important indexes for thevocational colleges to survive in the fierce competition. Nowadays, every vocationalcollege makes the statistics of their own gross employment rate, employment rate ofdifferent professions and employment orientations, thus there is much employmentinformation in the database, which is valuable resource for the colleges anduniversities. The real value will be reflected on the analysis of these data in a macroway. Through the analysis of the existing data, the degree of relevance will be foundbetween professions and employment position, area, orientation. Based on theextracted information, a technological guidance will be given concerning theconstruction of professions, the occupation object and orientation, course orientation,and also concerning how to open professions that can meet the needs of the market,and how to reasonably and effectively arrange the courses.Data warehouse and data mining technology can find the relevance rule amongthe data. Valuable information will be extracted through the analysis and will be usedin the guidance of decision making. Problems mentioned above will be solved if thedata warehouse and data mining technology is used in application to the employmentdata of the vocational college graduates.Based on the data warehouse, this article analyzes the employment data of thegraduate students from Hainan Software Vocational Technology College from2007to2011. Information is discovered through OLAP analysis and data mining technology. The objectives are:1. Select proper mining tool.2. A simple data warehouse is designed based on the extraction and exchange ofdata from the employment statistic database and loading the data to the datawarehouse.3. Using the clustering analysis, relevance analysis to find the inner relevancecondition of the profession and employment area, position and company type.4. Based on the comparison of the analysis rules and discovering information, astandard for reference will be offered to the decision makers and some advice will begiven.According to the research and analysis, potential knowledge is significantlyhelpful in guiding the profession construction, objective and orientation, and theopening of professions that can meet the needs of the market.
