With the rapid development of highway, highway maintenance became anextremely important task. At present, the road data acquisition system has reachedmaturity. However, as the immature road reconstruction technology, a large number ofdetection data could not be applied to the road maintenance.Traditional roadreconstruction models were mostly designed for route selection, which could notdepict road safety information vividly, such as roughness, rut and so on.Especiallywhen it came to analyze swellings (With the horizontal force of driving, deformationof partial irregular uplift were generated on road surface) and potholes (With the forceof driving, potholes were generated because of aggregate shedding) which arehazardous to driving safety. It was hard to meet the demands of road qualityevaluation and maintenance management.In this paper, the three-dimensional road reconstruction could be simplified tocross-sectional reconstruction by mapping three-dimensional road entity to three-dimensional coordinate, the coordinate which consisted of road mileage, roadcross-section and road relative height. The three layers reconstruction model includedtexture layer, section layer and GPS layer, which was proposed according to the roadreconstruction technology.Each layer has different accuracy and reflected the differentfeature information of road. How to fuse three layers data and construct grid model ofthree-dimensional road so that could complete three-dimensional road reconstructionwere the key point of the researching in this paper.The three-dimensional digital road system designed in this paper consisted offour parts: three-dimensional road reconstruction, scene displaying and interacting ofthree-dimensional road, video replaying of road environment, querying and displayingdigital information of road.There were four ways to draw three-dimensional road byOpenGL three-dimensional visualization technology, including grid road, roughnessroad, color road and texture road based on texture mapping of triangulation.Compared with traditional three-dimensional visualization highway, three-dimensional digital road system which designed in this paper could realize the reconstruction of the actual road,detecteing many kinds of road surface disease(potholes, swelling and etc.). At the same time, the system could show roadinformation of measurement. The design and implementation of three-dimensionaldigital road system has further improved the level of digital management of road, andhas a broad application value in the quality evaluation and maintenance managementof road.
