Power line communication is a technology that uses the existing low voltage orhigh voltage power lines to transfer data. In recent years, the power line networkhas been already covered in our country basically, which makes people have higherdemands to the power line network-smart grid. The power line communication cantake advantage of the existing power line, so we do not need wiring again, whichcan save lots of money and human resources. It can be widely used in networking,smart metering and so on. So it has great prospects and profit margins.This thesis analyzes the power line channel’s basic features firstly. Facing thisparticular channel, we compare three different ways of modulation which includeNarrowband communication, Spread Spectrum and Orthogonal Frequency DivisionMultiplexing. At last choose orthogonal frequency division multiplexing as our wayto use in power line. Then to analysis focus on the hardware and software design.The hardware system in this thesis describes the main circuits which aredesigned by STC89C51, TMS320C5509A and peripheral circuits. The peripheralcircuits include transmission circuits, receiving circuits and supply circuits.Transmission circuits include the DAC, low-pass filter, power amplification and thecoupling circuit. Receiving circuits include LNA low noise amplifier, BFPband-pass filter, AGC automatic gain and ADC. The power supply circuits cangenerate3.3V,1.8V and-5V power.The software in this thesis describes the DSP and microcontroller design. Firstit introduces the CCS which was designed for DSP and describes the outputfrequency generation method and the baud rate calculation method. Second itstudies DSP’s Direct Memory Access Controller, Multi-channel Buffered SerialPorts. Then it has a research to their work and configuration. DSP program will belost when power off, so it introduces how to boot with EEPROM. At last it has abrief introduction to the STC89C51and study how to initial the serialcommunication.This thesis has debugged to the power line carrier system at last. The tools thatneeded in the test were given. There still have some cautions. Then it has tested tothe whole system and has analyzed to the results at last.
