Nowadays ships communicate with others by electric cable, twisted-pair is mostly used for its strong anti-jamming ability and its high communication speed. But with the development of science and technology, many equipments in the ships are renew and increased. But every renewal of the equipments may bring more communication interface and request more cable to connect them. Laying cables will cost many time, money and manpower. In consideration of the most universal existing network in the ships is the low-voltage power line network. And inspired from the using of power line communication connect to the internet, this paper try to do some research in using the technology of Power Line Carrier Communication in ship communication..This topic discussed the feasibility of using the power line carrier technic in the ship communication system by researching the specialities of power line network in the ship and power line carrier technology. Moreover, it also discussed the theory of the equipment. The hardware and software has also been designed.In the design, the host computer connect with a 8-bit MCU by RS-232 serial interface, and the MCU connect with the INT5200 IC by GPSI interface. INT5200 will format the data to POWER PACKET, and then sent the data by coupling to the power line, and it receives the data in the same way. The INT5200 IC also have MII and USB interface, so power line communication equipments with Ethernet and USB interface can be easily designed based on this system.In the system, the communication will reach a maximal speed of 14Mbps,which can satisfy the communication of the Intergrated Navigation Display and Control Console (INDCC) with all the outer equipments.The technique and method adopted in this system have greater referenced value. Many power line communication equipments especially those in the industry area can be designed based on this system.
