As the rapid development of the wireless communication technology and theuniversal coverage of3G,as well as commercial4G is realized in some cities. Thetechnology of wireless video monitoring is widely used in vehicle (ship) monitoring,the handhold monitoring, wireless monitoring at a stationary location and other fields.Because of vehicle monitoring was used by off-line ago, the video was watched notuntil the accident happened. However, the wireless video monitoring appearing makesit possible for vehicles to be real-time monitoring and managing. In complexenvironments, such as building sites monitoring, environmental monitoring and thespot protection, there are issues such as wiring problems in the traditional wired videosystem. Therefore, it is important to build the flexibility wireless video monitoring.By reviewed the current situation of the wireless communication technology andoverseas and domestic research status, and the analysis of the current project of theembedded video monitoring, this paper raises an embedded wireless network videomonitoring system which based on the processor of ARM11. This system achievesvideo image transmission via an USB WLAN. The Web browser support for Java isused for clients monitoring. This system establishes a B/S mode monitoring system,the server of the monitoring system is built by embedded device, it is of flexible,convenient and low cost.As this paper described, the PC Linux system is installed, and gnu compilercollection is also built at first. Then the embedded Linux is transplanted to theS3C6410platform, which contains bootloader, Linux kernel and the minimized rootfile system. And then USB camera driver and WLAN driver are transplanted andconfigured to the platform, as well as the Boa web server is built. On that basis, theAPI of V4L2is used to program and the video capturing is completed. After that, thecompressed video data are transmitted by the socket network IPC which is based onUDP. Finally, Java Applet is programmed in an HTML file. And it enables the video to be watched by web browser, and the testing data are analyzed. The test results showthat the overall design of system is reasonable, and can run stably. It can be used inother fields such as smart home, smart city, car netwroking.
