The performance of the disk array determines the overall system performance. The testresults of disk array, if directly through building real hardware platform, maybe more realistic,but the hardware price is very expensive, and the system optimization is also more difficult,so this method is less used. In contrast, using computer simulation methods simulation studies,you do not need hardware support, and can be very convenient configure and build a varietyof array types, can be very convenient for a variety of optimization, so this low-cost, flexibleand convenient methods have been widely adopted. However, we have not ownedindependent developed simulation software of storage system. Most of the array systemsimulation studies are only based on the Carnegie Mellon University’s storage simulationsoftware, named DiskSim.Considering the above, on the basis of disk technology, file systems and disk arraysprinciple, and studied a variety of array storage performance and data reliability, and selectedkey performance indicators, such as the array of storage access efficiency, fault tolerance.Through in-depth study of multi-module principle, the entire storage system is divided intohost modules, bandwidth modules, switch modules, control modules, disk modules andindependent modules, and the function of each module detailed division. Also studied howthe combination of different modules, configuration, different storage systems. Study thepractical application of multi-module model solutions and in-depth study of the process ofrequesting access to the storage simulation system, described in detail the calculation of thecorresponding performance indicators. In-depth study of each module algorithm, such ascontrol module checksum algorithm, disk request scheduling algorithm module; also studiedunder the normal state and downgrade the status array storage performance. The paper alsostudied how to use multi-threading technology to make a more realistic simulation ofmulti-client access to the dynamic interaction of the array.The paper gives a framework design and programming of simulation of configurabledisk arrays storage system based on multi-module. The software supports RAID0, RAID1,RAID3, RAID5, RAID6 mainstream array level, and add RAID5x which is a new disk array put forward by Professor Hu. By experimental tests, the software has a more realisticsimulation of the array storage system. If through further optimized, the software can be usedas a simulated research platform on disk array performance, reliability, and array optimizationmethod.
