Group Cooperative Learning (GCL), as a kind of effective teaching model the new curriculum reform advocates, has its own advantages. In order to study GCL’s local application, this article carried on the investigation and analysis by delivering questionnaires to teachers from six high schools in Xifeng District, Qingyang City and students of Qingyang No.6 Middle School.The article adopted methods of literature research, questionnaire investigation and observation. Firstly, it made a summary of GCL’s background. Secondly, mainly taking Qingyang NO.6 Middle School for example, it made the investigation and analysis of GCL’s application status in high school geography class by questionnaires to teachers and students, and furthermore found some problems existing in the learning process, which include:a small portion of students’participation, low cooperation consciousness, inappropriate selected learning content, randomness of grouping, not timely guidance, delayed evaluation, not enough learning time and teachers’ own limited ability. Finally, it put forward corresponding solutions to the above problems, such as creating geographical environment, stimulating students’ participation motivation, choosing suitable learning content, grouping scientifically, combining evaluation with reward effectively,guiding reasonably, cultivating cooperation consciousness, providing plenty of time to create a harmonious atmosphere, improving teachers’ skills. It is expected that this article can be helpful to teachers and students by practical investigation and analysis.
