High school students have a psychological rejection and lack of impulsive expression towards the compositions which own superior difficulty and make their writing skills improve slowly. Faced with assignments and exams, they write their compositions with no feelings by following the old routines with nonsense materials so that writing becomes increasingly dull and hypocritical. While stories from the real life own the fresh interests and rich contents and they contain profound reflections and complex emotions of life, which makes them interesting and meaningful. This article will attempt to discover good stories in life and combine the good stories with d writings in order to help high school students go out of the current situation.This paper is divided into three parts. Part I:Stories are necessary for middle school students. It is summarized by questionnaires the outstanding problems that exist among middle school students, namely a lack of impulsive expression, real feelings and new materials. However, the stories positively solve these problems. What’s more, the combination of writing and stories also owns the theoretic basis of discovery learning theory, meaningful learning theory and information processing theory, cognitive learning theory and so on. Therefore, stories are needed to change the current writing situation of middle school students.Part II:Middle School Students need a good story. Only by a good story, can you write a good essay. This part focuses on the content and source of good stories. A good story should own readability, aesthetic and novelty, that is to say, a good story is interesting. A good story should be thoughtful, inspiring and educational, that is to say, a good story is meaningful. Good stories own extensive sources. Whether they happen on ourselves or others, or they are heard from others, or they are gotten from books, or they are happening in the society, they are important sources of a good story.Part III:Middle School Students need to tell a good story well. Selection and adaption are needed by searching, talking, listening and commenting about the stories and then expanding, reducing and restructuring in order to transform a good story. It is needed to select stories from different perspectives of emphasis and different strategies according to different styles of writing, stories in the narratives should be interesting and reasonable, while in the argumentative writings, they should be authentic, logic and representative. The qualities of meaningfulness and interests should be the idea of writing. It should be avoided the only pursuit of sense while ignore the meaning.
