In the face of the fierce competition in the 21st century, Improving the quality of education becomes the inevitable trend of era development. Classroom teaching is the basic organization form of the school’s teaching activities; the quality of classroom teaching restricts the quality of school education. In the traditional exam-oriented education, students tend to rely on heavy school work and sacrifice their spare time to improve the teaching quality, but lead to many problems, such as, the students feeling painfuL the teachers feeling too tiring. Therefore, in order to improve the quality of education, we must rely on improving the quality of classroom teaching to realize it.In this paper, the author takes the effective teaching as the breakthrough point, carry out a research on how to make classroom teaching more effective in combination with the actual situation in the teaching of history. In the thesis, the author illuminates the research reasons and the necessity of the research on the effective teaching of history, defines the concept of "effective teaching", and points out the main content of the thesis and research significance, this thesis also makes a comprehensive summary of the current situation of the "effective teaching" and "effective teaching in high school history" both at home and abroad. In addition, the author also conducts a questionnaire on the current situation of effective history teaching in Senior High School and analyses the results of the research from the students being taught by the author. On the basis of the questionnaire, combined with practical teaching, the author analyses the current problems existing in history teaching and finds out the reasons why these problems come into existence, thus trying to come up with some effective strategies on how to improve effective history teaching based on these problems. The author hopes that its research will help to inspire the teachers who are committed to improving the effectiveness of classroom teaching.Classroom teaching consists of teachers’teaching and students’ learning, it is a process where both teachers and students can transfer information, exchange emotions and promote common development, it is not appropriate for us to highlight only the responsibility and duty of one side. The teachers who function as students’guide and facilitator should improve their own quality, use scientific teaching methods and strategies correctly, try to change the phenomena that traditional teaching pays too much attention to the scores, learns by rote and trains mechanically, which are aimed to improve the effectiveness of the high school history classroom teaching and promote the development of students.What’s more, students should be the masters of their own learning as well as the main body of classroom teaching, they are supposed to shoulder the responsibility of learning consciously, adopt a variety of scientific learning methods and change the phenomena that students rely too much on teachers, learn passively and use single learning methods, so that they can learn how to study and improve their effectiveness of learning. There is no perfect teaching method of approach and students learn without definite method and what is the most important is that the methods fit you well. Finally, in order to increase the effectiveness of high school history classroom teaching, both the teachers and students should keep learning continuously, conduct continuous exploration and achieve continuous improvement.
