Since the new time, industrial structure, the fast pace of urbanization and the gap between the rich and the poor in the city, the problem of polarization between the rich and the poor is becoming more and more serious. The gap between the urban rich and the poor will inevitably lead to the low income families in urban areas. The existence of urban low-income families will not only affect the development of the national economy, but also directly affect the children living in low-income families in urban areas. Therefore in the urban low-income families, children are faced with many problems:family material conditions are poor, less chance to education, lack of confidence. These problems directly have an impact on the development of their physical and mental health. With the constant increase of urban low-income families, the society and the government have paid more attention to the children of low-income families in the city. Although the government and social assistance system for urban low-income families with children have been introduced, but the system is giving material aid which is only a temporary solution to the problem of urban low-income families living, but can’t solve some mental problems:such as emotion cognition and regulation of ourselves and others. Therefore, the government and society should not only provide material help, but also put more emphasis on the emotional problems of children in urban low-income families. In order to help the children of urban low-income families to enhance the ability of emotional management, data based on one and a half years of professional practice attempts to intervene this problem from the social work perspective, ABC theory of emotions and social learning theory. The researcher tries to design six group activities to improve the ability of children’s emotional management.Through combing the relevant research and drawing on the current domestic and foreign research on emotional management, the researcher tries to divide the emotional management into three dimensions:emotional cognition, emotional expression and emotional regulation. Through the semi-structured interviews with 7 children in the community, the needs of children’s emotional management were analyzed on the basis of the interview. The researcher intervene the children’s emotional management with the group work method on the basis of the evaluation of children’s emotional management needs of urban low-income families. In the aspect of cognitive emotion, the researcher uses two activities (sharing stories and guessing) to improve children’s emotional and cognitive ability; In the aspect of emotional expression, the researcher uses color mood of colliding and masks to improve children’s ability to express emotions; In the aspect of emotion regulation, the researcher wants to enhance children’s emotion regulation ability by the poor kitten and sit up team games. In the process of the whole group, the group activities of each stage have achieved certain results.Working group which uses this method for the emotional management involves three different dimensions and also has obtained the certain effect. But there are still some deficiencies:the sustainability of the intervention is not sufficient; this paper mainly uses qualitative analysis, but researcher lacks practical experience which results in improper approach to analyzing materials.
