Children are the hope and future of a country, and the issue of children’s growth dilemma has always been a common concern of academia and the whole society. In recent years, the problem of absolute poverty in our country has been eliminated, but the problem of relative poverty still exists. As the main contradiction in our society has been transformed into "the contradiction between the people’s growing need for a better life and unbalanced and inadequate development",the needs of low-income people have also further increased.Since the late nineties of last century, the group of urban children from low-income families has received extensive attention from all walks of life, but most scholars’ research focuses on the descriptive or explanatory aspects of certain problems, and the research on micro-strategies for social work practice to intervene in children from urban low-income families has been less involved.Children in urban low-income families lack their own resources, coupled with their lack of ability to link and integrate resources, and they receive insufficient social support, resulting in growth difficulties in all aspects,so they need more external attention and help.Based on this, this study contacted a large number of children from urban low-income families through internship in D social work institutions, learned about the difficulties and needs of this group in the process of contact, and analyzed the needs of this group through questionnaire survey and interview method from the perspective of ecosystem theory, and found that this group has difficulties in terms of balanced diet, living environment, family culture and education,parent-child relationship, peer group interaction, and monotonous types of after-school activities, resulting in dietary structure and good living environment, benign family support, peer group communication, academic support, development of hobbies and other six aspects of demand. In view of these problems, this study conducts targeted casework and group work for clients from the perspective of social work for the different needs of clients. On the one hand, select the most representative client to intervene in the case, and mobilize his family, school, community and other systems to help the client get out of the predicament; On the other hand, group activities are designed for children from urban low-income families with the same needs, and child growth groups are carried out, giving full play to the professional advantages of social work to promote children’s communication with peer groups, enrich their after-school life, and meet the diversified needs of children from urban low-income families.Through four stages of case service and five group activities, the expected service goals were basically achieved, and the pluralistic difficulties of casework clients and the dilemma of children in group work in peer group interaction and extracurricular activities were improved. Finally, the intervention process of case service and group activity is reflected, and the shortcomings are put forward from the aspects of social workers’ professional quality and ability, the scope of social work intervention, and the institutional problems faced by intervention services, and suggestions are made from three levels: comprehensively improve the professional quality of social workers;Expand the support network through multiple channels;Actively promote the establishment and improvement of relevant systems.
