Comparative Study On Exercising Between Chinese And American English

Exercising system is one of the most important components in mother-language textbooks. It can be seen as the conversational bridge between students and bibliographers, works and teachers, representing the major method for educational ideas, teaching points and bibliographers’ intention. Taking American English edited by Ma and Chinese language textbook in common high school as the objects; this thesis makes comparison and contrast in exercising system between Chinese and American English. My paper contains following parts:introduction which introduces research background, questions and status quo in exercising system between China and America. Part Ⅰ mainly summarizes the definition of language textbooks, exercising system and language teaching content, and part 2 concludes the characters in exercising system in both Chinese and American English. Part3 describes the differences in exercising system between Chinese and American English, making the comprehensive analysis. Part 4 makes reflection for exercising system of textbook of American English, discussing the reasons and essence behind the phenomenon and meanwhile making suggestions for our exercising system:micro and macro respect in structure; making contrast between the structure, content, numbers and types of exercise in macro aspect, While making contrast between reading and writing in micro way. As the exercise designing is abstract, most of study take typical examples as cases, analyzing the examples on one side, introducing the structure on the other side, and finally make advantage and shortage through comparing the exercising system of two language textbooks to put some implications.
