With the reform of the context and curriculum, a number of scholars began to compare the teaching material between China and the United States. Through analysis, the researchers found discrepancies in the choice of materials on this difference not only affects the student’s learning content and learning styles, and even affect students’ cognitive structure, way of thinking and the ability to acquire new knowledge. By using literature analysis, content analysis, comparative method and case study method, the author compare the Ecology part in "Modern Biology" which is a mainstream of American high school textbook with the same part in "Steady and environment " which is published in People’s Education Publishing House. On the basis of the comparative of the course objects and content standards set, the analysis focuses on five aspects of research from Column, knowledge, experiment content, imaging systems, exercise systems. Provide a reference for the reform of teaching ecology part of our country, and for the preparation of biology teachers in high school biology textbooks ecology part of proposals in the teaching part of the ecology.This study found there are both identity and common in the two high school biology textbook versions. Both were edited on the basis of improving student’s biological science literacy, which is the suggestion of basic idea and edition of teaching materials. They also attach the importance to the relation between the biological science and technology and the society. On the one hand, the column set in PEP is more detailed, knowledge content and form is designed more variedly and it also has more types of after-school exercise whose degree of difficulty is moderate. Furthermore, it attaches more importance to comprehensive knowledge assessment; On the other hand, it has more experiments and richer content in the US version, picture settings use the form of group photos which can make the difference of knowledge more directly outstanding. Language is more vivid, engaging, humane; school exercise is more flexibility focusing on training and development of thinking. Disciplinary trend in the US version is clearly and contemporary bright. By comparing the two materials analysis, the author based on the above conclusions offer the following recommendations for reference:Prepare proposals for teaching materials: firstly, the depth and breadth of knowledge of the PEP Textbooks is supposed to increase; secondly, to set more column about experiment, using methods of a variety of model construction to develop students’ inquiry learning ability of science; thirdly, try to select more vivid pictures and use image group to illustrate pictures; fourthly, in order to detect the different dimensions and different levels of goals, we can set some more short-answer questions and thinking questions to improve students’ ability of using, analyzing, assessing and synthesizing knowledge; fifthly, we should focus on the concepts and vocabulary exercises, pay attention to the background of the formation of the concept of penetration; sixthly, pay attention to the cross section between ecology and the other subjects.Recommendations for biology teacher: firstly, biological teachers should use the elective textbooks to replenish the content of the compulsory part of the ecology textbook; secondly, by comparing both teaching materials, teachers should find the advantages to supply each other and teachers can develop secondary materials by selecting the content of the US version teaching materials. |
