Self-efficacy refers to personal judgments of ones’ capabilities to organize and execute courses of action to attain designated goals, it has a direct impact on academic performance, and educators have long recognized that students’ beliefs about their academic capabilities play an essential role in their motivation to achieve, as a result, improving students’ self-efficacy is important.Learning analytics is receiving increased attention, so do learning technologies, but there is rarely evidence of their effectiveness in improving learning outcomes. And some of them only revealed some surface analysis using learning analytics which was largely insufficient to determine student study characteristics or to do some actual change indeed. In this paper, we focus on the benefit of learning analytics as well as learning technologies in the aspect of academic self-efficacy.In this study we focus on enhancing the learners’ general self-efficacy and specific self-efficacy by sending specific encouraging emails to learners in a blended e-learning environment with the idea of learning analytics. Data were collected from 30 students in Software Testing class, of which 14 students received the encouraging emails while the rest 16 students did not receive anything. Independent samples t-test revealed that students in the experimental group got a significant higher score than the other group both in general self-efficacy and in specific self-efficacy. The results show that the email way is effective in a blended e-learning environment.
