The booming E-learning brings brand-new visual angle and multiple channels to the reform of education. All kinds of learning platforms such as Sakai, Blackboard and Moodle which is widespread record and store a large number of learners’data. How to dig out the information of improving study effect from these data has become a realistic problem in front of researchers. Learning analytics is analysis and application of’big data" in education. Learning Analytics takes the massive data as the research object, explores the relationship of learning process and learning effect through effective analysis models and tools, visualize analysis results, provide students, teachers, managers and other stakeholder advice and guidance.This thesis analyzes domestic and foreign literature that related to the learning analytics frstly, summarizes the current development and situation of learning analytics.Then compares the typical framework and model of learning analytics, concludes a clear and enforceable procedure of it, focuses on the recording and selecting of learning data, choosing of methods and tools and visualization of the date results.The thesis selects two network learning platforms to put the research into practice. One is investigating the problem of recording learning data from micro video platform of "J Class".This case analyzes the four events including watching videos, testing, asking, and noting from the angle of learning events. Other case is analyzing the students’data from different aspects according the procedure of learning analytics based on an online training platform of H universiry.By analyzing the data of test results and selecting courses, we can get the information of student’s knowledge level before study and the difference beween difference places.Meanwhile we can know whether the students choose the recommending courses to remedy their deficiency. By analyzing the behavior data in study such as online duration, amounts of BBS and notes, we can compare the performance between different classes. By using UNICET to analyze the data of interaction and know students’ performance in BBS. Hoping to provide some guides for practice of learning analytics in future.
