In recent years, with the increasingly grim situation of the aged tendency of population of our country and the weakening role of the family care, the society is getting more responsibility for caring the old. And the institutional care is becoming one popular choice for people. In contrast with the traditional choice of family care, the institutional care is more economic, intensive and professional, and more suitable in the modern industrial society. However, it takes the risk of losing some love from the family. At the same time, the relatively closed, regular and uniform mode of life effects the reduction of the chance and the space for freedom. Under the pressure of adapting the new situation and bearing the pain from the deterioration of physical function, the aged is easily feeling powerless and lonely, and a miner setback may cause pessimism about life.the institutional care lays much emphasis on the supply of hardware facilities, which basically meet the needs for the daily life of the old, while lack of attention of the spiritual health. In contrast with the material and financial supply for the old, addressing the needs for spiritual health guarantee the quality of life. Thus, around the need for the spiritual care, as a student who studying the social work, the author use the method of case study to investigate the real life of the old. Seek the positive factors for the current life by using the therapy of recalling the past with the client, to promote the self-esteem of the old; dig the recourses and the strengths of the client and enable her to face the challenges and the problems actively by fully using the theory of the strengths perspective; Enhance the continuity of her hobbies and her inner personality and reduce the uncontrollable pain of the body with the theory of compensation and continuity, to improve the quality in her later life. Hope that this research could help to attract the popular attention to the importance of the spiritual care for the old; on the other hand, put the knowledge of social work into practice to explore the validity of the professional methods of social work, and enable it play an effective role in field of the spiritual care for the old.
