History teaching in higher vocational education is a necessary condition for cultivating high-quality technical personnel. However, the status of history course in higher vocational colleges is increasingly weakened. Teachers have no direction, purpose and enthusiasm for history teaching. Therefore, they teach history, only to complete the teaching tasks. Besides, students lack interest and motivation in history learning. They think that historical knowledge is of no use for employment and social life. According to the above situations, the author makes it as the writing purpose to research the problems existing in history teaching in higher vocational colleges and to put forward the targeted countermeasures.Through the research methods, such as questionnaire, survey and so on, the author found out the outstanding issues of history teaching in high vocational colleges: First, students with poor qualities are short of basic historical knowledge. Second, Students lack positive learning attitude and have no good studying habits. Third, teaching forms of teachers are rigid and lacking interaction between teachers and students. Last but not the least, evaluation methods are single and backward.According to the above problems and based on years of practical experience in the history teaching, the author carried out the research into history teaching cases with higher vocational characteristics and tried to put forward the strategies to solve the problems of higher vocational history-teaching, in order to make history teaching more suitable for actual needs of higher vocational students.The strategies for the history teaching put forward by the author are as follows:The first one is to fully recognize the importance of history education. History education has much with moral education, promotion of the psychological quality, improvement of professional quality and cultivation of comprehensive ability. Only by realizing the important function of history education, can history be valued, thus providing ideological guarantee for history teaching development and becoming fully effective with its educational function.The second one is to enhance the qualities of history teachers. As the dominant players during the teaching process, teachers can’t improve their teaching levels and serve better in history teaching in high vocational colleges until they fully realize the importance of their own moral quality, professional quality and the humanities quality. Only in this way can teachers improve their own teaching level and do better in history teaching in higher vocational education.The third one is to consolidate and develop the resources of history teaching. Practicability and practicality of vocational education needs such history textbooks that conform to reality. This requires that teaching contents should be combined with professional features and local resources, which can not only increase the students’ professional knowledge, but also improve their professional quality. At the same time, it is of great help and importance for students to develop good professional ethics and professional quality, thus promoting the quality of personnel training.The fourth one is to put forward concrete measures of teaching reform. On teaching thoughts, teachers should pay attention to the combination of theory with practice and strengthen the application of historical knowledge; On teaching methods, teachers should adopt innovative teaching modes, build efficient classroom and carry out teaching with professional features; On extracurricular activities, it is useful to develop and innovate history classroom teaching based on characteristics of schools. It’s better to change the classroom which takes teachers as dominant players into the stage where students can practice and experience by themselves.The fifth one is to improve assessment methods and build a reasonable evaluation system. Multi-angle and all-round evaluation methods should be adoptef in order to improve teachers’ teaching enthusiasm and stimulate students’ passion and initiative for studying, thus making history teaching work smoothly.
