| The senior high school period is a stage that cannot be neglected in an individual’s socialization. According to Erik H. Erikson’s theory of Eight Stages of Development, the senior high school period is a vital part of adolescence. During this period the main task is to develop self identity and establish gender role in the prevention of role confusion. At present, part of the male students is retarded in the socialization of their gender roles, thus forming wrong behaviors and improper ideas of gender role, and taking a tendency toward femininity. This is a serious obstacle to the individual’s normal growth. If things continue this way, the harmony of our society will be influenced. Therefore, during this period the education of students’ gender role becomes extremely crucial. In this study, by using the basketball game full of competition and aggression and exercises for the improvement of muscular strength in the PE classes, we provided a planned intervention for male students having the tendency toward feminine in language and behavior, conducted psychological tests by using Bem Sex Role Inventory(Revised) and BWAQ(Chinese revised version) before and after this experiment, analyzed the correlation between the performance of gender role and dimension of aggression, tested the change of aggression level and gender role before and after this experiment, examined the specific results of intervention. The results show that the significance is considerably improved among the three dimensions of Physical Aggression, Indirect Aggression and General Aggression. However, there is no negative effect on anger and hatred, and the scores on the after-the-experiment masculine become higher. The results reveal that the sports activities having competition and needing strength, to a reasonable extent, can strengthen male students’ aggression level and improve masculine traits of male students having the tendency of feminine. This study will provide society, school and family with methods of invention related to gender role, prevent psychological problems brought about by the confusion of gender role, and promote the mental and physical development of male students. |
