With the economic globalization,the diversification of value,and science and technology unceasing progress,all countries in the world attaches great importance to the construction of citizenship education of their own. “ the Program for Improving Civic Morality”issued in 2001 clearly stated the importance of implementing civic moral construction and saw schools as significant places where moral education should be taught.However, until recent years in our country began to pay more and more attention to construction of civic education, the current primary school civic education is still at the beginning stage.As a typical example which carries forward Confucianism but also draws on the Western citizenship pattern,Singapore solves a great deal of problems by relying heavily on this civic education and hence obtain enriched experience in the field of primary citizenship education and research of textbook.Documentary analysis is primarily used in this essay.Based on historical development background of citizenship education in Singapore, resources relating to citizenship theory and practices are collected and the textbook called “ Good Character Good citizens ” began in 2014 is researched in order to provide valuable suggestions for our own textbook on primary citizenship education and promote the development of our own curriculum.There are four parts in this essay.Origins and reasons of this research are illustrated in chapter 1.The background of citizenship education textbook in primary school in Singapore is analyzed in chapter 2, and factors that influence the development of textbooks mainly are as followings:social development,evolution of goal in citizenship education and the update of citizenship theory.Analysis of textbook “ Good Character Good citizens”is given in chapter 3,and it describes from three angles,namely structure,learning content and modes of text presentation.Four features of these textbooks are concluded in chapter 4:highlight core values、life-oriented resources integration、learning process-concentrated teaching methods 、concrete home guidance.Aming at improving the design of cizitenship education theory in primary school and textbook compiling,some advice is proposed at the last part of this essay.
