Since the Opium War, China has been faced with the impact of globalization, especially with the rise of the third wave of science and technology and the overall reform and opening up in China, globalization has become an irresistible trend. Faced with the impact of globalization, Chinese people in different historical periods have made arduous explorations, putting forward various ways to make the country wealthy and people strong, but the effect is not satisfactory. For various reasons, the "new citizens" proposed by Liang a century ago has not been well implemented, citizenship education in China is still in the state of unfinished enlightenment. Today we have entered the twenty-first century, as acceleration of the world of information integration and the process of trade globalization, the world is more and more like a "global village." The way we handle the relationship between nationalism and the world, the relationship between self and others, the relationship between individual and the government and other kinds of the relationships is an important subject of citizenship education.The thesis will start from the analysis of the concept of citizen and the concept of citizenship education, attempting to rebuild the goal of civic education in schools system of China, update and expand the contents of civic education and explore new ways to implement civic education. The research is based on the foreign advanced concepts and methods of civic education and carried out in the background of continuously promoting globalization. Purpose of the study is to guide people to understand correctly the nature of our current society and the difficulties encountered, keep a firm conviction in socialism with Chinese characteristics, constantly enhance the Chinese nation's sense of identity and belonging, self-confidence and national cohesion, and to cultivate people's Patriotism. Hopefully this article will help people to foster the awareness of globalization and multiculturalism, understand the diversity of world culture, increase the ability to live in harmony with all ethnic groups, enhance moral and cultural cultivation of our citizens, so as to promote world peace and prosperity.Hence, the thesis includes six parts:Prologue The prologue dwells on the raising of the questions in the thesis, summary of the relevant literature and research methods. In the first part, I will focus on the connotation and transmutation of citizens and citizenship education.In the second part, on the basis of detailed analysis of globalization and characteristics of the times, the thesis elaborates the impacts of globalization on citizenship education in China and the necessity and urgency of citizenship education in schools in the background of globalization.In the third part, the author discusses the basis of three theories of citizenship education and uses the practical experiences of citizenship education in some western coutries for reference.In the fourth part, the author makes a brief introduction of the development of citizenship education in China and analyzes the current status and problems of citizenship education in schools.In the last part, the author puts forward to reconstruct the goal of civic education, update and expand the content system of civic education and proposes specific paths and methods to implement civic education in our schools.
