A Case Study On School-based Teaching Textbook Development With The Local Special Resources

Textbook innovation is one of the hot topics in present vocational education reform. As a talent cultivation carrier, textbook quality is the key factor affecting the qualities of the talents cultivated. With the development of vocational education, the talent cultivation is facing great changes. During the process of the reform, Tongren Vocational Technical Institute does much research on the talent cultivation, closely related to the local economy, especially the leading industries, thus develops a series of school-based teaching textbooks to meet the needs of the students and the society. Those school-based teaching textbooks are so popular with both students and teachers because they feature in the local resources and regional culture with focus on the whole process of each major. Tongren Vocational Technical Institute is well on the way developing its school-based teaching textbooks to meet the needs of the students and the society. This research is a case study on the development of school-based Miao Medicine textbooks. With filed survey, document analysis, case analysis, we study in detail the process of the development of school-based Miao Medicine textbooks, viewing both the advantages and the disadvantages. We hope this can help us better our way of developing our text-books.Five chapters and a Preface are included in the thesis. One, the reasons to develop the special school-based teaching textbooks on Miao medicine; Two, the theoretical foundation for the development of school-based Miao Medicine textbooks; Three, analysis on the typical textbook--- the Development and Application of Miao Medicine Resources, with focus on the preparation before development, developing target, developing principle, composing the main content, as well as the supporting facilities, thus to explore how vocational education can, with the local resources, meet the needs of the students and the society; Four, the experience, the shortages, and the main causes in the development of the textbook; Five, countermeasures to develop school-based teaching textbooks with the local special resources.
