The burdens in schoolwork of primary school students has always been a hot issue in the fields of education, even the whole society. The heavy school work has not only affected the emotional and physical health of pupils, but also impeded the pace of the educational reform and the development of the Quality Oriented Education. In fact, focusing on the question of how to reduce pupils’ study load, the state and government departments have transferred the orders of alleviate burdens for many times. However, the public treat them just as a policy show. And, the effect is not optimistic. The opinions of pushing forward the reform of primary and secondary school education quality comprehensive evaluation, published by the Ministry of Education in 2013, has come up with that to treat the students’ academic burden as the main content of school education teaching quality evaluation. To improve the measures of reducing pupils’ study load by investigating the students’ objective learning load and the subjective feelings about them. Therefore, this problem has risen to a new level. So,how’s the situation of the schoolwork burdens in the primary schools of Baoding City, Heibei Province? It still needs further research about the achievements, the problems and the solutions during the reducing pupils’ study load.Using documentation method, questionnaires method and interview method,this essay has interviewed the pupils from Grade 4 to Grade 6 in Baoding City,Heibei Province. By finding out the elementary student’s study time, academic quality,academic learning difficulty and pressure, it analyses the cause of students’ academic burden. Based on this, the author has come up with some feasible countermeasures about how to reduce the study load and improve the quality of school education,hoping to provide some reference for similar researches.This paper totally contains five parts:The first part is introduction, which is about the statements, the meaning, the reviews of both national and abroad, the objectives, solutions, and the creativities of doing researches, etc.The second part is the summary of schoolwork burden, mainly about the basic definition, the acts, the bad effects of schoolwork burden, the meaning and bases of evaluating standards.The third part is about the survey of current situation which is about the schoolwork burden of students in Grade Four to Six in Baoding City. By the way of making up, giving out and recovering the self-designed questionnaires of schoolwork burden and interviewing related members, preliminary understand the current situation, then analyze the result of the survey.The fourth part is the descriptions and the analyzing of the problems related with the schoolwork burden of students in Grade Four to Six in Baoding City. By surveying and analyses of data, try to find the problems of students in learning time,quality of homework and learning pressure, then analyze the reasons from three aspects of social, school and family.The fifth part is the suggestions of the problems above, including three aspects of social, school and family.
