The new curriculum reform puts forward the requirement of cultivating high school students’ geography quality, the map is the main carrier of geographical knowledge, geographic literacy training must be to map literacy training is an important prerequisite for the new curriculum reform of Geography education in middle schools put forward the cultivation of senior high school students’ geographic literacy requires virtually is map literacy of high school geography teachers put forward higher requirements. For further improvement the connotation of map literacy, to cultivate and improve the ultimate goal of high school geography teachers map literacy, this paper from the perspective of map literacy starting, through a variety of methods study concludes the basic situation of Daye City high school geography teachers map literacy, especially to the high school geography teacher map literacy are lack of in-depth analysis, propose corresponding solutions for the problems found and eventually produced with the geographic literacy of the modern citizen, I carried out this work. Most important research methods used in this paper is the investigation method of the questionnaire, through the analysis of questionnaire results draws the basic conclusion of this paper, which is the core content of this article; second is the literature analysis method, which is the theoretical basis of this paper writing; the third is interviews. Compared with other geography teacher exchanges, I won the many constructive suggestions. This paper mainly through these research methods of geography teachers in Senior High School of map literacy status do research and analysis, the combination of theory and practice proposed high school geography teachers map literacy training strategy.For the more realistic grasp the Daye City high school geography teachers map literacy, the author choose the Daye City three public high school 33 in-service geography teachers as subjects, through the analysis of the meaning of map literacy, I design the corresponding questionnaire, after analysis and research, the conclusions of this paper are shown in the following aspects:1. Advantages:(1) high school geography teachers can fully aware of the importance of mental map; (2) high school geography teachers can fully understand the application of map and map tool view; (3) the geography teachers in senior high school reading level is higher; (4) the use of the geography teachers in senior high school geography information technology is better.2. Problem:(1) high school geography teachers use map awareness is not strong; (2) high school geography teacher knowledge map learning habits to be cultured; (3) high school geography teachers map drawing ability is limited, consciousness is not strong; (4) high school geography teachers emotional map is not deep.
