Under the background of rejuvenating the country through science and education,popular science is more and more valued by the country and mentioned by people.Popular science is the popularization of science and technology.Science popularization aims at improving citizens' scientific literacy,popularizing scientific and technological knowledge,advocating scientific methods,disseminating scientific ideas and carrying forward the scientific spirit to the masses in a way that is easy for the public to understand,accept and participate in.Science popularization is the combination of science and technology and education.Geography is an important part of education science popularization and has its unique advantages.Based on this understanding,combined with the existing problems in high school geography teaching,this paper,from the perspective of popular science and education,based on the connotation of popular science education,explores the principles and practical strategies of popular science education in high school geography teaching.Comprehensive literature research method,questionnaire survey method,interview method and so on to the current high school geography science popularization status analysis.According to the interview results,many high school geography teachers do not pay much attention to science popularization education,and their awareness of science popularization is relatively weak.Therefore,science popularization education has a great development space in high school geography teaching.Based on this,this paper explores the theoretical basis and teaching practice of geography teaching in terms of knowledge improvement,ability cultivation,value penetration and other aspects from the perspective of science popularization,and gives some suggestions on how to improve the quality of geography teachers in science popularization.
