The importance of algorithm in mathematics education gradually draws people’s attention, and, in many countries, algorithms is one of the compulsory subjects in mathematics education of high school. In Ordinary High School Mathematics Curriculum Standard(experimental draft), elementary algorithm is included in one of the five modules of compulsory subjects in China’s high school(New Senior Mathematics for China Student’s Book 3), which embodies the organismic integration between information technology and mathematics, and makes mathematics course adapt the development of modern society. In modern society, computer has been an essential tool in our daily life and work, such as processing and counting statistics, surfing the internet, entertaining oneself and so on. Actually, the operational principle of computer has a close connection with algorithms. Algorithm is the basis of computer program and the core of computer science. Computer mathematics is the mathematics of algorithm. Algorithm can’t be without computer program, and that means where there is algorithms there is a computer. Only if computers divide problems into certain procedures, which is the algorithms, can computers describe the "language" clearly and then problems be solved. In a word, while solving problems, computers are based on algorithm. Just as Ordinary High School Mathematics Curriculum Standard(experimental draft) says, "algorithm is an essential part of mathematics and its application as well as an important basis of computer science."Additional content "elementary algorithm" is of great importance. For one thing, it provides students with basic knowledge to adapt the modern life and future development, and for another it provides students with necessary preparation in mathematics study, which serves as a connecting link between preceding and the following for the development of students. However, algorithm is a newly added content, and elementary algorithm is unfamiliar to most of middle school mathematics teachers. Meanwhile, there is no ready-made experience. Hence, while teaching, we are confronting with ultimate challenge. At the same time, the positive effect of introducing algorithm is of significance. And how to perform elementary algorithm is the focus to high school mathematics teachers. Therefore, high school mathematics teachers’knowledge of elementary algorithm is not only the focus of modern high school mathematics teaching but also the purpose of this thesis. By this opportunity, I would like to do some researches on elementary algorithm teaching among high school mathematics teachers. This article is for reference only.
