Algorithm is a distinguishing feature of the ancient Chinese mathematics and the mastery of algorithm is a requirement for modern people along with the rapid development of the computer technology.For the first time algorithm is a compulsory subject according to the new curriculum standards for high school mathematics,which adapts to the needs of the times but poses a series of in-depth questions.For example, what is algorithm? What is the meaning of studying algorithm in the information age? What is the current teaching in the world? What should be taught under the new curriculum standards for high school mathematics? How should we carry out teaching activities so that students can better master algorithm according to the new curriculum standards for high school mathematics? The thesis aims to make some preliminary discussions theoretically and practically.The thesis consists of three parts.The first part touches on the content and requirement of algorithm according to the curriculum standards for high school mathematics from aspects of the objectives,content and teaching design and indicates that it is a current trend for algorithm to become compulsory for primary and secondary school mathematics courses.Then this part lists content of algorithm courses,and analyzes their emphasis and specific requirements in some major countries.Through the horizontal comparison we hope that we can get some suggestion for our algorithm teaching and arrive at the problems for the thesis.The second part systematically expounds the connotations, the general requirements of the algorithm,methods and criteria to measure algorithms,introduces content of teaching,the concept of algorithm,the three major structural diagram of the procedure and algorithm statements and analyzes the prospect of algorithm in exams.Through the detailed analysis of the content of algorithm,teachers are aware that they can pass on the newly added content in their teaching activities only if they grasp the various parts of the algorithm deep and avoid superficial understanding.The third part emphasizes that the content of algorithm in the curriculum standards is shown in two forms.One form is the introduction of the basic idea,basic structure and basic statements of algorithm and the other is the penetration of algorithm into other relevant parts of mathematics and the combination of the algorithm and many other parts.For the first form,some typical examples are listed to analyze the strategies for teaching the concept of algorithm,algorithm process diagram,the basic algorithm statement,and the algorithm cases.And for the second form,the thesis lists the content in mathematics in secondary school which can be combined with algorithm and analyzes the way to combine them through examples.Lastly the thesis puts forward some suggestions for teaching algorithm in secondary school:(1) to guide students to find out the meaning of algorithm through examples;(2)to focus on teaching emphasis and breakthrough teaching difficulties to learn the thought of algorithm;(3) to pay full attention to the pervasion into and combination with other contents;(4) to apply information technology in the teaching of algorithm.
