As the revolution of English teaching goes further, experiential English teaching are now widely paid attention,as a whole new teaching idea in education world,especially the universities. Many education practitioners have been doing research from different levels and angles to explore the English teaching methods in China. Bond with my practical English teaching experience in primary school and the research findings and achievements from former research, I analyze the practical value of experiential English teaching, and also the remaining problems and the causes in primary school English teaching, and try to find an effective method to improve the teaching with the experiential idea, aim to bring the function of experiential English teaching into full play and improve the quality of teaching extremely.This thesis has five parts. The first part will discuss the origin of experiencing, experientialteaching, experiential English teaching, and also the connotation and the practical significance, aim to lay the foundation for the following research. The second part will discuss the theories(Discourse of modern Linguistics, education of modern cognitive science and psychology on the theory of motivation and emotion) and the supporting function of experiential English teaching, the value will be discussed from one side, too. The third part will be an investigation in current experiential English teaching, aim to discover existing problems, which areknowing the effect but do not use it,formalism,poor teaching effect and single teaching evaluation. The fourth part will analyze the causes of existing problems in experiential English teaching from four angles: misunderstanding of the connotation, low teaching attainments(insufficient theoretical attainments, practical knowledge and teaching research), improper designed procedures(the creation of environment, control and leading in teaching) and lack of evaluation. The fifth part will discuss and try to find methods to improve the experiential English teaching in primary school teaching. First, teachers should grasp the essence of the experiential English teaching, respect and arouse the students’ autonomy, know the difference between experience and experiencing, put both emphases on biological and cultural environment. Second, teachers should improve teaching attainments; sublimate the mental state, professional quality and teaching research ability. Third, teachers should optimize the procedures in experiential teaching, try to create real teaching environment, design the teaching activities carefully, make the group work effective and control the teaching process scientifically. Fourth, teachers should improve the system of teaching evaluation, including Updating the evaluation concept, adjusting the evaluation means and enrich the evaluation subject.This thesisargues that experiential English teaching is a kind of dynamic English teaching model which is full of humane care and follows students ’ mental and physical development. It’s very suitable for promotion and use in the teaching of English in primary schools.Effective implementation of experiential English teaching in primary schools will further enhance the main position of students in the teaching of English, establish students’ benign experience of English learning andmobilize the initiative of students. The research on the theory and practice of experiential English teaching in primary schools will also further promote the transformation of educational practitioners teaching concepts and the innovation in English teaching.
