The development of the new curriculum reform and the deepening of quality education, teachers should try to change the way that students learn, and actively promote autonomy, cooperation, and explore ways of learning. So that students in the learning process are able to do active learning. It makes the students be the centers of the classrooms by interacting,communicating and sharing on related topics between teachers and students, students and students),which will stimulate students’ interest in learning,improve students’ awareness of cooperation,so it can make teaching full of vigor and vitality.The research is based on the reality of today’s high school chemistry classroom, by using the pedagogy, psychology and other theories, along with the literature research, survey interviews, case studies, empirical research and other research methods, It analyzes the connotation and the history, current situation at home and abroad and the theoretical basis of discussion teaching method. Also, it studies the application of the discussion teaching method from three aspects, which are the preparation before class, the process of class and evaluation after class. In the classroom, the implementation of discussion teaching is divided into three parts:ask questions, exchange and sharing, problem-solving, and describes the points of operation and pay attention to the points in all aspects of. After a year of application in the class of senior one, the application of discussion teaching method in high school chemistry class can fully reflect the advantages of students’ subjectivity and group work.
