There is no complete theoretical framework about study on major sports events and city tourism interaction. With the advantages of both interactive increasingly prominent and both are committed to the development of the industry, related theoretical studies have become more urgent. By the nature of major sports events and city tourism, using literature research, historical research and interdisciplinary combination of methods, the paper try to explore the general pattern of interaction processes and support positive interaction, cooperation and win-win interaction mechanism. Based on the framework of the construction of interaction mechanism, The problem existed in the course of the interaction between major sports events and urban tourism have been analyzed in multi dimension. The countermeasures to adapt to the interaction between the two are discussed.Major sports events have the characteristics of experience, concentration and interaction. They can improve city visibility, show the image of city tourism, improve the support system of city tourism, promote the city tourism space expansion and restructuring, affect tourism-industrial structure adjustment and promote the development of urban tourism industry. The impact of city tourism on major sports events is mainly reflected in two aspects of hard power and soft power.During the process of major sports events and city tourism interaction, there are also negative effects, including resources strained, the low rate of venue facilities, resulting in a waste of resources, "crowding out", loss risks and the growth rate of potential crime and so on. We need to face seriously and avoid properly.Countermeasures to promote positive interaction between the major sports events and city tourism are: The top design level grasps the major sports events and the scientific interaction and the sustainable development between the two sides. Establish the institutional mechanisms of major sports events and city tourism interaction. Enrich the marketing means and encourage the marketing breakthrough and innovation within the framework of the legal system. Promote the development of sports and tourism gathering. Focus on creating unique sports events, sports tourism, sports leisure brand. The whole course of the interactive development between major sports events and city tourism is in the scientific and overall plan.
