The high-school geography is a comprehensive and extensive subject, whichinvolves both natural science and social science. It has an important position inhigh-school education system. With the rapid development of science and technology,the information technology has developed tremendously in education field as well.Fortunately, the multimedia teaching methods are widely used in high-schoolgeography classroom because of the popularization of computer technology.Nowadays, multimedia teaching method has gradually become a significant teachingmedia. Multimedia can present the dull concepts and abstract things vividly bydynamic pictures, animations, videos and so on. It’s worth mentioning that the use ofmultimedia instruction has significant influence on teaching methods, teaching meansand teaching concepts. This thesis is based on modern pedagogical theories anddiscusses the following aspects:1) Promote the education reform of geographyteaching by multimedia teaching methods;2) Discuss the design of multimediacourseware and analyze the effect of multimedia instruction;3) Explore how toachieve the best result by applicating multimedia teaching methods. It hopes that thisthesis can provide inspirations on the implement of multimedia instruction in seniorhigh-school geography classroom.The research subjects are geography teachers from two senior high-schools.Questionnaire survey and individual interview are employed to investigate the presentsituation of multimedia teaching methods in senior high-school geography classroom.This paper intends to summarize the current situation of multimedia instruction ingeography teaching process; put forward the research questions; provide necessaryreference for the application of multimedia technology in high-school geographyteaching. The major findings of this study are briefly concluded as follows: Firstly,senior high-school geography teachers’ computer level is still relatively low. Itsuggests that try to improve teachers’ computer operation ability and coursewaremaking ability. Secondly, the modern multimedia teaching methods and traditionalteaching methods are not well-combined. It suggests that teachers should rethink howto unite the multimedia teaching methods and traditional teaching methodsorganically. Thirdly, the multimedia teaching resources are not enough at school. Itsuggests that school should strengthen the multimedia teaching facilities, such asprovide more multimedia teaching tools for teachers.
