| Geography is the branch of knowledge that studies geographical environment and its relationship with human activities, which highlights integrated and regional features. Commonly used as comprehensive analysis is, it’s particularly important in the study of geography. School assignment targeted at developing this ability is a crucial part of geography teaching as a well designed assignment will not only effectively reduce the academic burden on students, but also improve their capabilities, enabling them to study independently and build the ability of comprehensive analysis.Through literature review, questionnaires, case studies, comparative and other research methods, this work conducts a comprehensive investigation on the theoretical basis and the current conditions related to this research. Based on the degree of the importance of comprehensive analysis played in the first classrooms and assignment design, this study analyzes four Grade 2 science classes taught by the author in a high school, and finally demonstrates the feasibility, necessity and effectiveness of the study through the process of evaluation and periodic evaluations. This study proposes three optimization strategies to the design of synchronous assignment, aiming at developing students’ ability in comprehensive analysis. The strategies can be listed as followed. Firstly, the design will focus on the optimization of teaching materials. Secondly, the design will stress the optimization of reference materials in text books and other after-class books. Thirdly, the optimization will follow the student-centered principles and give special attention to the basic, flexibility, pertinence, openness, practicalness and multiformity.By analysing the case of synchronous assignment in New Senior Geography for China Student’s Book 3, the study classifies the students’ assignents into four different types, the text, the chart, the manipulation and discussion. Targeting at developing students’ comprehensive ability, the author will optimize these four different types, hoping it can be of help to teachers and homework wrtiters. |
