Over three decades has passed since the appearance of information technology education in our country. Information Technology Course is also the main approach for the school to cultivate students’information literacy. Since the proposal of the cultivation of students’information literacy, how to cultivate middle school students’information literacy, in which aspects the middle school students’information literacy should be enhanced, whether middle school students’information literacy has group variation and so on are all problems that should be solved in actual teaching. Through observing and investigating into the information technology class teaching in some middle schools in Yanji as well as the inspecting the actual information technology teaching practices, it is found that there are many problems in the information technology teaching in middle schools, such as poor disciplines in information technology class teaching, low efficiency of information technology class teaching, weak self-learning ability among students, etc. In addition, the inappropriate selection of information technology class teaching methods is also one of the important factors in the cultivation of middle school students’information literacy. Furthermore, there are many problems worth exploring into and analyzing, including changing the previous singular teaching method in information technology class, adopting new teaching modes, such as task-driven teaching mode, whether the new teaching mode can help cultivate middle school students’information literacy, and how the new teaching methods affect the improvement of middle school students’information literacy.By means of questionnaire investigation, observation and action research method, the paper chooses the students in Grade 7 in one middle school in Yanji as the subject. First of all, the paper investigates into the current situation of the middle school students’information literacy in Yanji, gets to know the students’information literacy at each dimension as well as the group variation at each dimension, analyzes the main problems and affecting factors in terms of the cultivation of middle school students’ information literacy. On the basis, two classes are selected to carry out the teaching practice with the task-driven mode in information technology teaching for the purpose of testing the effectiveness of improving students’ information literacy. A typical case is thus formed. Finally, combined with the questionnaire results and students’ class performances, the paper explores into the effects of each part in the task-driven mode on middle school students’ information literacy in the information technology class.Through analyzing and discussing the results, the study finally draws the following four conclusions:Junior high students’ information attainment is generally at the normal level. Different junior high students vary from each other remarkably in terms of gender, nationality and the availability of computer in their family. In information technology class, it is feasible to make use of the task-driven teaching mode to cultivate junior high students’ information attainment. Moreover, there are some problems in the utilization of task-driven teaching mode to cultivate junior high students’ information attainment. In the task-driven teaching mode, the establishment of context and confirmation of task exert significant influences on junior high students’ information attainment.
