Narrative is one of the most important writing styles in essays of middle school students, which runs through the whole writing instruction of middle school and has a great impact on learning other modules. The writing system of narratives on textbooks of junior middle school language will be presented by theme writing and the exercises of each unit. System of training and the overall improvement are complementary, while narrative selection is the supplementary of teaching. However, for a long time, teachers and parents are concerned about problems such as lacking of interest, writing skills and scores. Although teachers have tried their best to improve the students’ level of writing by adjusting their methodologies, training and assessing of narrative writing, and other means, the results are not optimistic. Therefore, how to make middle school students be interested in narrative writing is a serious problem faced by teachers.Yanji fourth middle school is a Han Chinese middle school in Yanji city.This p aper takes students and teachers as the object of investigation, combines various resea rch methods observation, interviews, case analysis and focuses on understanding the s tatus of narrative writing of junior high school students, which includes writing basic narrative situation, narrative writing skills,knowledge of narrative writing. The status of the city fourth middle narrative writing teaching is understood by observing classro om instruction, student performance class and lower class analyzing "junior high scho ol language curriculum standards", PEP language textbooks teachers’ lesson plans, student’s say papers.through the survey, we found that teachers have some successin the teaching of writing narrative, writing teaching methods varied, layered narrative writing teaching method.But there are some problems,mainly in skills training more important than writing skills upgrading old student narrative writing m aterial deprivation, poor self-modifying student writing ability, teacher’s e narrative evaluation methods and so on.Based on the above problems, the school will reform from the aspects of school itself, teachers and students. From perspectives of school itself, schools should create a good atmosphere and hold extensive writing activities; teachers should break apart the traditional teaching models, and make use of ways of diversified assessment; students ought to improve their writing ability via developing their own interest in writing, strengthening their sense of observation and perception and accumulating writing materials.Narrative teaching process should be a process filled with joy, that is, teachers enjoy teaching while students enjoy learning. Narrative writing will never be a difficulty with teachers and students by working together.
