National physical fitness is an important part of comprehensive nationalpower and national competitiveness.With the rapid development of the economy andsociety, people’s living standards are rising, however the teenagers’ physicalcondition is declining, Governments and the society have widely concerned about this.As the reserves of nation, Teenagers’ physical fitness has great influence on the futureof the society. Therefore, strengthening students’ fitness plays an important role to thesustainable development of the country.This article explores the impact of badminton training on physical fitness in highschool students by analysis their physical fitness index.The study selected60senior high school students in Beijing Dayu middle schoolwho had not received training in badminton, in good health and on the voluntary basis,divided into experimental group participated in badminton training and control group,half boys and half girls.Experimental group (boys and girls, each15people) received badminton trainingof two classes a week and90minutes per class, a total of16weeks of training afterfulfilling the normal teaching activities. And the control group (boys and girls, each15people) only take part in the normal teaching activities, both of groups of studentsdid not be participate in other sports training. The measure indexes included bodyshape indexes (height, weight, body mass index (BMI); Body function indexes: vitalcapacity and step index; Physical quality indexes: grip strength, standing long jump,sit and reach test,50m race and1000m (male)/800m (female) race.The results show that (1) the height, weight and body mass indexes of the twogroups showed no significant difference before and after the training.(2) Thebadminton training for16weeks has a promoting effect on vital capacity of highschool students, but there was no significant effect on cardiovascular function.(3) Thebadminton training for16weeks has a promoting effect on upper limb strength of thehigh school students; and the lower limbs explosive power of boys has the promotingeffect; while had no significant effect on the girls’, but has showed a increasing trend.(4) There was no significant difference on the increase of flexible quality for the highschool students after the badminton training for16weeks; and has promoted the highschool students’ speed and the aerobic endurance. In brief, badminton training for16weeks for middle school students hasdifferent effect on the high school students’ different physical index, There is a certainpositive effect on promoting the fitness of middle school students. We should payattention to choose multiple sports and insist for a long time to promote the highschool students’ fitness.
