Modern prose teaching is an important part of Chinese readingteaching in high school, it plays an important role in improving thestudents’ language competence, improving the students’ Chineseaccomplishment and so on. However, the present situation of modernprose teaching in high school is not optimistic. Although somescholars and teachers have put forward many methods and measures,the effect is not perfect. By revelation from the close reading, theauthor introduces the close reading to the modern prose teaching inhigh school and provides certain reference for it.First of all, the thesis presents the research background,significance and methods, and then summarizes the research ofpresent situation of the close reading, modern prose teaching andclose reading in modern prose teaching. Secondly, the thesisinvestigates the current situation of modern prose teaching in highschool through the questionnaire investigation and interview method,so as to truly reflect the current main problems of modern proseteaching in high school. The aim is to provide a realistic basis for"close reading" used in modern prose teaching in high school. Thirdly,the thesis expounds that the "close reading" is a new way of modern prose teaching in high school from two aspects of theoretical valueand practical significance. At the same time, the thesis puts forwardthe specific strategies combined with excellent language teachers’teaching case. Specifically, teachers must go through three stages ofsharpening in the process of preparing, including "private read facingto the text―absorbing study read―read for teaching". In the teachingprocess, teachers should guide students to read and appreciatemodern prose from three levels: Context, emotion and language.Teachers can use some specific methods such as read method,comparison method, imagination method, analysis key words methodand so on. Finally, the thesis presents that a teacher should payattention to some problems when using the close reading.This paper not only pays attention to the theoreticalinterpretation but also the exploration of practice strategy. Thispaper combines theory with practice closely, making the closereading used in modern prose teaching in high school earnestly andeffectively, so as to effectively improve modern prose teaching inhigh school.
