As a second language for Chinese students, high school students must learn English well.Vocabulary is the foundation of learning English, therefore, vocabulary learning in particular, shouldbe paid more attention. But now, most of the students in high school have the problem of lackingvocabulary, This is attributed to high school students encounter more difficulties in the process oflearning vocabulary, Such as the lack of appropriate vocabulary learning strategies,can not adhere toa planned memorizing vocabulary and so on. On the other hand, there is a variety of Englishvocabulary learning software on the market today, although each have their own characteristics, andmost software can do the rich vocabulary, detailed explanation, but they still can not complete dealwith the problem that the high school students encountered in the process of learning. So, based onthe shortcomings of the current market vocabulary learning software and the survey of high schoolstudents,problems in vocabulary learning and the theoretical analysis, Developing a Vocabularylearning system that can adapt the learners`vocabulary ability level and memory characteristics andarrangement personalized study plan detail for learners, urging their vocabulary learning, vocabularyConsolidating steeply is Imperative.This study adopts literature research method, survey method, mathematical model method,educational experiment method and some other methods. Based on the literature research, we tried tofind the problems which the high school students encountered in the process of vocabulary learningThrough a questionnaire survey and interview survey, and then Investigating and analysing thecurrent vocabulary learning software in the market, Keeping its essence and discard its dross, so inorder to put forward the adaptive high school English vocabulary learning system scheme.Firstly, The system is based on the current Advanced test theory-the tem response theory and theEbbinghaus memory theory, using the computer adaptive learning method to design the main moduleof the system. The system mainly include four core modules: Testing the learners`vocabulary ability,Determining the personalized path for consolidating vocabulary, Studying vocabulary, consolidatingvocabulary. Secondly, after determining the main module of the system, designing the differentfunction for each module. Among them, the adaptive method is not only reflected in testing thelearners`vocabulary ability, but also in determining personalized vocabulary consolidation pathaccording to the learners`characteristics of memory. On definiting the difficulty of the vocabulary,the system breaks through the traditional method of defining vocabulary difficulty by syllable length, it use The British National Corpus to define the vocabulary difficulty according to frequency of usein daily life, and through the item response theory to model the involved parameters in the system,build the quantitative relationship between the parameters, so as to being guided in the computeradaptive test theory to testing the learners`vocabulary ability more accurately. The vocabulary`consolidated, not only refers to Ebbinghaus memory curve, reminding learners to consolidatevocabulary in memory nodes, but also explorating learners`vocabulary memory characteristics infurther, and designing personalized vocabulary consolidating path for them, in order to improve theefficiency of vocabulary memory, maximizating the senior high school students`vocabulary. Thirdly,determing the learning process, and complete the corresponding database`architecture. Finally,completing the system development by the popular PHP development language.In this study, after the completion of system development, we do some educational experimentin the small scope to test its applicability, in order to exploring its suitable crowd, suitable forlearning stage and defects. The analysis of experimental results show that, the system providepersonalized learning path for the learners. It has a better effect for the students who has a poorperformance or lacking in autonomous learning ability in grade three in high school it can effectivelyhelp them to improve their vocabulary memory effect, expand vocabulary, enhance the level ofEnglish language learning.
