Geographical knowledge primarily be tested through text, maps, charts in Geography college entrance examination. The combination of Graphic and geographic knowledge is the most significant feature of geography. The use of maps,charts and graphics is the most basic and important method. In addition, it is the necessary skill to obtain the knowledge of geography. But according to feedback of geography classroom and the analysis of geographic college entrance examination papers in recent years, there are many things affect the development of integrated geography abilities. For example, students’ weak reading ability, the lack of the research and method guide of teacher, leading to the unsatisfactory marks of college entrance examination. Therefore, Reading Ability has become a bottleneck that restrict students’ geography learning. The research of students’ reading Ability is significance to geography teaching in senior high school. Study of students’ reading can develop the geospatial thinking ability, can stimulate students’ interest in learning geography, cultivate students thinking ability and scientific literacy, conducive to enhancing teachers’ professional level.The thesis explores the questionnaires of teachers and students based on the Curriculum standards and syllabus. The subjects of this experiment were selected from the S middle School in Qin an. Throughout the whole experimentation, literature,questionnaire and statistic analysis were employed. The study aims to investigate the situation of students’ reading ability, as well as teaching situation of reading ability.What’ s more, it explore whether there is supply and demand contradiction of geography teaching. Finally, the attribution analysis were employed for data collection by SPSS and EXCEL. The research identifies the causes of students’ reading Obstacles and put forward the solution to these questions.According to the investigation of students’ reading ability teaching, the thesis identifies the reasons of students’ reading Obstacles and put forward the solution to these questions.The causes of students’ reading Obstacles: Students do not understand the rudimentary knowledge of geography, Students’ geospatial imagination is weakwhen interpret geographic image information, Students’ cognitive ability is immature,the lack of specialized knowledge and old teaching thoughts. What’s more, the study put forward the strategies of these problems: to improve students’ good learning ability, to change students’ methods to interpret the images, to promote students’ cognitive ability. Of course, the causes and strategies given by the study is not very comprehensive, but effective strategies will be explored in the future.
