Although the teaching of reading and writing plays a dominant role in Chinese lessons of junior high schools,teaching to write should be regard as a significant part of language teaching. However,as the impact of teaching media,overload teaching tasks and limited writing standard,teachers tend to pay less attention to Chinese characters writing,which leads many problems,such as uncertain purpose,unsystematic contents,low-efficient progress,unavailable evaluation criterion and deficient training,etc. These problems result in students’ attitudes and writing habits,which depress their writing standard. So,that is very meaningful for inheritance of traditional Chinese culture and comprehensive improvement of students’ language attainments.At first, the dissertation tries to definite the concept of writing teaching--teachers follow the teaching rules,grasp the structure and feature of Chinese characters and make a combination of pupils’ psychology,physiology and cognition to direct students writing,cultivate their passion for Chinese language and enhance their aesthetic judgment. Secondly,conclude the experience of traditional writing teaching though the books and literature,such as valuing writing teaching,the separation of reading and writing,the gradual process,teaching by precept and example and other theories.And then,three junior high schools are chosen to be survey,class observation and interviewing teachers. I intend to find a comprehensive perspective of the condition of writing teaching via making questionnaires and the outlines of the interviews.After reorganizing and analyzing the collected materials,I want to indicate the problems and the reasons existed in writing teaching of junior high schools of rural area.It can be helpful for coming up with the solutions,which suggests:the importance of writing teaching should be recognized in different aspects--leaders,teachers and teaching;the writing capacity of teachers should be enhanced;the process of writing teaching should be perfected;cultivating a good writing habit;the culture of schools and a good atmosphere for Chinese characters writing should be set up;developing the the school-based curriculum of writing is needed;the effective evaluation criterion of writing should be established. The purpose of my research is offering references for theteachers in rural junior middle schools to formulate strategy of writing teaching.
