With the development of economy, science and technology and society, people are increasingly dependent on high technology. On the one hand people’s living standard has been greatly improved, but on the other hand their ability to survive a significant recession. In recent years, frequent natural disasters, the 2008 earthquake and social disaster casualties as several domestic stampede happened to see if we should say has been a painful lesson, but also to see the survival of the missing education. Contemporary Chinese Youth Society is necessary to absorb natural disasters or disasters painful lessons, develop their sense of survival and improve quality of survival, increased survival knowledge, exercise survival skills. But the majority of high school students spend most of their time in school, so the school’s survival education is very important. At present, although the requirements of the new standard of high school students to fully develop, but some are still in school or college entrance exam for the baton, leading to lack of knowledge of the student survival, survival is low, the survival status of education in schools is not optimistic. Therefore, the emphasis survival education, education reform existing survival, it is very urgent and important.This article is based on secondary geography as a carrier for the survival of high school geography education research. Mainly to study the method of literature research and survey. First analysis of the literature published abroad, research progress in recent decades combing geography survival education, improve survival connotation geography education, summarizes the theoretical basis for the survival of education, combined with the physical and psychological characteristics of high school students in the analysis, the survival guide to carry out teaching geography topics work carried out; secondly, by Survey of Kaifeng City area high school geography education to survive, find geography survival education problems: geography teacher professionalism is not high on the limited knowledge about the survival of education, not pay attention to their own survival education; high school students living the ability of poor overall survival weak sense; single teacher lecturing way, lack of interesting, is not fully utilized textbooks; for lack of understanding of the local natural disasters; geography neglected, schools still score as the main evaluation methods. And to solve these problems, combined with the actual situation propose appropriatemeasures for improvement: improving geographic literacy teachers, to change the traditional concept of geography education; according to the law school students physical and mental development, gradual development of geography survival education; flexible use of textbooks, to fully exploit the survival of education in favor of geography teaching content; subject characteristics combine to carry out the "survival" as the theme inside and outside activity classes; improve survival interesting geography education, mobilize the enthusiasm of students; survival of combining education and local geography; changing geography education to promote the survival of educational evaluation. Hope for geography teaching reform and development, the implementation of educational philosophy of survival help.To develop the geography of survival education in geography teaching in middle school, can not only cultivate the students’ consciousness of existence and survival ability, but also has an important role to establish a correct view of life value to students. Enable the students to master the law of survival, the survival of learned in geography classroom knowledge to life, to resolve the existence predicament of life, try to avoid the possible existence of risks, to enable students to better life, to better realize their own value.
