Proposition composition has a long history, it has been highly recommended since the Feudal society. However, every coin has two sides, proposition composition tends to confine our students within a certain topic and nine of ten, the resource materials are similar, or even repeated. As early as the beginning of 20th century, Chinese well-known educator Ye shengtao talked about the disadvantages of this kind of composition, insisting that it doesn’t meet the needs of reality and kills students’interest towards writing. In spite of all those shortcomings, there must be some advantages for proposition composition to survive for years, that is, unified evaluation criteria, specially designed for exams and this advantage outclasses all the other types of composition.In addition, it is an indispensable way for junior students to practice their writing skills. It is the root form of all the other types of composition, no matter what ways they may take, they may come to the proposition composition in the end. From this, we can tell the importance of it for the writing skills of junior students.Proposition composition as the research subject, the actual writing teaching situation in No. 4 Middle School as the control group, this essay will be divided into four chapters. Chapter one is the introduction. It’s about how to bring forth this topic, the meaning of the topic and the real research situation and ways of doing the research. The writer holds the opinion that we can know a larger range of writing skill teaching by focusing on one topic, and this topic can reflect the real writing level of the school. Moreover, the writer chooses this school not only because she works in the school and knows the school well, but also she wants to set a research example for all the other middle school in Yanji.In chapter two, the writer does the research on the present proposition composition teaching in No.4 Middle school in both teacher and student perspective. In teachers’perspective, it focuses the practical use of proposition composition, various ways of teaching methods and the accumulation of teaching resource. While in students’perspective, it focuses on the basic writing situation, the quantity and quality of proposition composition and accumulation of students’input.Chapter three is the analysis of present proposition composition teaching situation. Our school has advantages either on teaching staff, students themselves or the school itself, this is why our school always takes the leading level in proposition composition. However, our school also has it disadvantages, we will discuss about them on teaching staff and students perspective.In chapter four, the writer gives some advice on proposition composition teaching based on its problem. The writer argues there is not a complete teaching system on writing, which the other counterpart schools share the similar issue. The teachers and students should work together to complete this teaching system.The writer analyses the proposition composition teaching in No.4 middle school in general and summarizes the suggestions.This essay is based on several questionnaires and close contacts with teachers and students during work, it is a general understanding of proposition composition teaching in No.4 middle school, hopefully, it will do some help for our school.
