As China’s advantages of the project, the development of women’s shot put is notbalanced. How to seize the opportunity, adjust the way of thinking in order to cultivatemore outstanding sports reserve talent is our top priority under the new situation. This paperis written on the basis of literature, questionnaire survey, expert investigation, mathematical statistics and logical analysis. An interview and investigation is carried outamong the coaches, athletes and training personnel in17bases of National Olympicwomen’s shot put high level talent reserve. A comprehensive analysis of the specificsituation in the training has been done to find the existing problems so that a theoreticaland practical reference can be provided for the sustainable development for the “base” andChina’s sports industry. The research results show that:1.Each base coach has made scientific plans for adolescent female shot put athleteswhich are suitable to their age, their physical and mental development. A few coachesadhere to the "base" years of training plan and annual training plan, improve the system oftraining plan has not yet formed, make the whole process of training the lack of systematic,long-term, the scientific nature.2.The different kinds of training program made by the coaches are detailed in theaspects of intensity, content and training class time. It is vital for the shot putters to raisethe level of their performance and rank. But due to the lack of advanced theory to supportand the lack of innovation in training methods, the trainees can not reach the expected goalof training.3.The channels for base funding is single. Most of the bases mainly rely ongovernment, a few bases guarantee their daily training by providing paid training orcommunity sponsorship. All bases have special allowances for athletes who achievedoutstanding results in higher level competition while ordinary players can not enjoy thistreatment.4.Compared with other sports school coaches,“base”coaches have a stronger practicalexperience, higher academic qualifications and professional titles. Some of the coacheshave titular positions in colleges and few of them can obtain the corresponding academicqualification. The “base”coaches have few opportunities of being trained, lack thetheoretical knowledge and innovation and it is easy for them to abide the rules.5.Most of the bases have standard facilities which guarantee the daily training ofwomen shot and have comprehensive training hall that meets the needs of training. Someof the bases can only meet the basic normal training due to the problems such as damaged venue and outdated facilities. So the equipment needs to be repaired or updated to betterserve for the training.6.Due to long hard training, the athletes can not take into account the learning andtraining at the same time, which results in the low level of their scientific knowledge andno ability to analyze the principle of shot put technique, not to mention the ability to guidethe sports training. The contradiction between learning and training is obvious. The basescan not provide support and guarantee the normal training for female shot athletes due tothe fact that many of the professional scientific research personnel are leaders or otherpart-time staff who are lack of professional qualifications.
