In competitive sports, coaches are playing key roles in athletes training and are also one of thekey factors in the competition results. The training philosophy has a direct effect on team’straining level, character, and competition result. In this dissertation, synchronized swimmingcoaches from P.R China, Japan, Russia, and Canada are selected to study and compare theirtraining philosophies for China synchronized swimming. Documentation references,questionnaires, experts interviews, case studies, and comparative studies are implemented toin this dissertation. Training objective, team management, art cultivation, and team trainingmethodology are compared and studied from four countries synchronized swimming coaches.The similarities and differences are studied and the effects on China synchronized swimmingare analyzed to further optimize team training system. The main outcomes are:1. The training philosophies are based on coaches rational theory and actual practice. Trainingphilosophies from4countries coaches are studied and compared from training objective, teammanagement, art cultivation, and team training methodology.2.4countries coaches all set excellent competition result as overall objective. all coaches putpriority on the execution of training plan.In terms of training objective,Canadian coachfocuses more on the process..Chinese coach set goals to request athletes to achieve ultimateresult. Japanese, Russian, and Canadian coaches focus more on scientific training with moreclear and professional work breakdown structure.3. All coaches devote their own competences, characters, and attitudes into team management.On the other hand, their managements are also affected by self-experience, state system, etc.Chinese coaches combine training with mentoring to help athletes to gain competence.Japanese coaches excavate athletes potential through rigorous training and treat every athleteequally. Canadian coaches cultivate athletes to treat synchronized swimming as a sport and ahobby. Russian coaches use survival of fittest mechanism to obtain best talents in nationalcoach team and athlete team.4. Coaches from4countries’ music selection and choreography are influenced by differentculture backgrounds. Asian coaches have less variation in choreography and are relativelyconservative to pursue the stability and execution quality, while western coaches focus moreon creatives, choreography variations, and are more willing to take risks.5. Coaches from4countries focus differently on water physical training, land training andtechnical training. Chinese coaches prioritize on water physical training and have less trainingon small muscle group which have direct impact on control force and explosive force in water.Japanese coaches prioritize in technical training and pay attention to details. They also helpathletes to develop correct action and power generation awareness through land training.Russian coaches use ballet training as an important training element and combine it intotechnical training. Canadian coaches’expertise in water physical training can improve athletesstamina effectively and help athlete become proficient and tacit through repetition training.
