Knowledge pervasion is one of the ways of mental health education. Chinese is ofvital importance in mental health education. As a text, Chinese textbook is filled withelements of mental health education. This paper attempts to analysis the different elementsin Chinese textbooks published by People’s Educational Press, which includes gender,ethnic, nation, vocation, virtue, interpersonal relationship. The conclusions of this researchare as follows.1. In terms of gender, the number and names of males appears more than that offemales, which shows the dominance of men and women as backdrop.2. In terms of ethnic, the number of minorities appears less, the narrow andstereotyping view of minority as backward culture, and too much emphasis is put onone-way help from Han ethnic to minorities.3. In terms of nation, foreign characters are simplified, homogeneity, and lack of theinternational perspective of Chinese and foreign cultural exchanges.4. In terms of vocation, the types of men are rich and more often play social roles,while the types of women are thin and play family roles.5. In terms of virtues, men are usually brave, tenacious, and responsible; whilewomen are kind, considerate and dedicated.6. In terms of interpersonal relation, family love and peer relations are dominated,topics are of respecting the old and loving the young or helping each other; social relationsare not rich and mainly reflect social rules. The human and nature relations are more oncaring for animals and plants, respecting nature and protecting the environment.
