"Developing Strengths and Saving Faults"(DSSF) is one of the important principle of our ancient education. It still has important significance to the education of modern society, especially to our Chinese teaching. But in the reality of education environment, this principle is often separated in Chinese teaching, which will lead to an imbalance of "Developing Strengths" and "Saving Faults", and affect the quality of Chinese teaching and the improvement of students’ Chinese accomplishment. In Chinese teaching, we have some teachers just staring at the shortcomings of students. Some teachers are unconditional enlarging students’ advantages without criticism and called it incentive teaching. Some teachers focus on cultivating the students’ strengths, but do not know how to compensate for the shortcomings of students; Some teachers just make up for students’ shortcomings and do not know how to develop the student’s strengths. These imbalance phenomenons in Chinese language teaching are not conducive to the development of students.Wei Shusheng is a famous Chinese teacher. Although there is no directly and explicitly put forward the view of DSSF in his Chinese teaching, he penetrates the essence of this principle into the Chinese teaching practice. He always sticks to the students’ advantages and disadvantages, and has obtained remarkable achievements.Through reading related books of Weishusheng,we can find him have his own opinions in developing students’ strengths and saving their faults.He develops strengths and saves faults By means of democracy and science, finally realizes the students’ self education, and his Chinese teaching practice has obtained remarkable achievements. Therefore, we can use DSSF to attribution to him.Through reading related books of Weishusheng, exploring and thinking his Chinese teaching practice related to DSSF, we can provide valuable experience and enlightenment for our Chinese teacher. Paper is divided into four parts:The first part is the outline of DSSF. It elaborates the value and connotation of DSSF to illustr ate its relationship with the experience of Chinese teaching by Wei shusheng, proposing the view of DSSF in Chinese teaching of Wei shusheng. The second part is to discuss four deviations of DSSF in actual Chinese teaching and analysis the causes. The third part is to dissert some measure ments of DSSF in Chinese teaching of Wei shusheng, and explain the methods and achievements he got in Chinese teaching through researching the DSSF. The fourth part is about the revelations Wei shusheng got from his experience of DSSF in Chinese teaching, and I wish more and more Chinese teachers can reference from the discovery and research.
