ObjectiverThe study observe the effects of L-carnitine supplement and aerobic jogging exercise on the normal-weight and overweight college students of body composition, maximal oxygen uptake, blood lipid levels, plasma carnitine, adiponectin, leptin, erythrocyte Na+K+-ATPase, Ca2+ Mg2+-ATPase activity changes, explore simple exercise, exercise combined L-carnitine supplement effect on plasma lipid metabolism of college students in different weight and possible mechanism, provide some experimental evidence for reasonable weight control and improve exercise capacityMethods:Students divided into 4 groups according to BMI and different supplime-nts:normal carnitine supplement group(NL, n= 10), normal in the placebo group (NA, n=10), overweight carnitine group (HL, n=10) and overweight placebo group(HA, n= 10).Each group of students did 10 weeks of aerobic jogging, three times a week, after exercise immediately heart rate (130.47±4.57) beats/min, in half an hour before each exercise, NL and HL group taking L-carnitine 2g, NA and HA group taking 2g placebo. Before and after 10 weeks of aerobic exercise, the subjects under fasting state taking venous blood, detect serum lipids four:plasma total cholesterol (TC), triglyceride (TG), high density lipoprotein cholesterol (H-DLc) and low density lipoprotein cholesterol (L-DLc), erythrocyte Na+ K+-ATPase activity, Ca2+ Mg2 T-ATPase activity; plasma adiponectin (ADPN), leptin, carnitine content measured using enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay.Using body composition analyzer detect weight, body mass index (BMI), waist-hip ratio (WHR), body fat percentage (BF%). And using a gas analyzer and aerobic power cycling test maximal oxygen uptake (V02max). Results:After the experiment NL group WHR、BMI was significantly lower (P <0.05), NL and HL BF% was significantly lower (P<0.01), NA group BF% was significantly lower (P<0.05). H group BMI was significantly lower (P <0.05).Before the experiment, the overweight V02max was significantly lower than the normal group (P<0.01). After experiment, subjects in each group V02max were significantly higher(P<0.01).Before the experiment overweight group H-DLc was significantly lower than the normal weight group (P<0.05), while TG was significantly higher than the normal group (P<0.05). After the experiment, the carnitine group H-DLc was significantly higher (P<0.05), TC> TG was significantly lower; placebo group H-DLc significantly increased (P<0.05) NA group TG decreased significantly (P <0.05). Overweight compared with the normal group supplement carnitine combined with exercise effect on TG, HDL-c more pronounced. Before the experiment, the H and N group plasma carnitine levels were no significant differences, while H group leptin levels were significantly higher than the N group (P<0.01), adiponectin levels were significantly lower (P<0.05).After the experiment carnitine groups plasma carnitine levels were significantly higher (P<0.05), plasma leptin levels significantly decreased(P <0.01), every groups plasma adiponectin levels、erythrocyte Na+K+-ATPase activity, Ca2+ Mg-ATPase activity were significantly increased(P<0.05).Conclusions:Aerobic exercise combined with L-carnitine supplementation can significantly improve normal weight and overweight lipid metabolism and body composition, increased plasma carnitine levels、maximal oxygen uptake、 adiponectin levels, red blood cell Na+K+-ATPase、Ca2+ Mg2+-ATPase activity, reduced plasma leptin levels.
