New course standard points out:"develop skills in listening, speaking, reading and writing is an organic part of language teaching." Reading skill is the important basis and key factor of language output and expression, and it is one of the core purposes of the junior middle school English teaching. At present, the reading teaching is mostly adopts a three-stage teaching model, they are "pre-reading, while reading and post reading" three stages. "Reading" stage (While reading), it is the main part of the reading teaching, students can get information, develop the ability of language application and improve the ability of reading comprehension through this part. Teachers and students should put main emphasis on how to use the proper reading strategies to obtain main facts and opinions.Pre-reading and post-reading stages mainly practice listening and speaking skills, so the class atmosphere is more active. However, while-reading stage is quieter. Some teachers consider while reading as "awkward silence" because students should calm down to get information and language from materials, so they spend too much time on pre-reading and post-reading parts, whereas omit the most important part—while reading. This leads while reading activities not fully developed, and ignore the effective teaching design in while reading part. As a junior high school English teacher, I want to pass on the research of the while reading teaching design, to figure out what to read in the concept, elements, principles and function of teaching design. In order to applied in reading class and improve the efficiency of reading teaching, I will explore while reading teaching mode.In this paper, I will adopt the following methods:literature analysis method, case analysis method, questionnaire method, observation method, personal interviews method. On the basis of literature research, combine the status of while reading teaching with teacher interviews by classroom observation and questionnaire methods to explore the principles of while reading, and explore English reading teaching patterns in countryside junior middle school.
